A Thread, Not a Tagline

On purpose, connection, and the hands behind every LA LOOP.

Last week I was with my friend, entrepreneur, social impact investor Lily Kanter in Mill Valley. She just released a beautiful new book called Woven with Purpose — and as we talked, I kept thinking about LA LOOP, and why purpose has guided me from the very beginning.

My purpose has always been simple: to bring people together, around the world, through a necklace.

When I see a stranger wearing a LA LOOP at an airport, I stop them. And what follows is always a wonderful conversation — about where we're going, who we love, what we're building. Through these little circles of leather and metal, I've met artists, photographers, teachers, legislators, small business owners, and mothers I would never have known otherwise.

That is what purpose looks like to me. Not a tagline. A thread.

And every loop carries that thread because of the hands that make it. Women in downtown Los Angeles. Leather artisans in Padova, Italy. The women and men plating our jewelry in Cranston, Rhode Island, and in the Jewelry District of Los Angeles.

Every loop is small. Every loop is a story. And every loop is meant to start one.

With love and purpose, Elizabeth
