“While working with St. Vincent I helped deliver meals to thousands of elderly, homebound and other vulnerable residents throughout Los Angeles. The caring people that generously volunteer their time taught me that these meal deliveries not only provided nourishment, they were often the only human connection many had. Filling yet another urgent and vital need, they help solve isolation and chronic loneliness. St. Vincent Meals on Wheels is critical lifeline.

They deliver 100,000+ meals a month to seniors who are at risk of hunger. There are over 250,000 seniors facing food insecurity in Los Angeles and many of them are homebound. Choosing between basic human needs like housing, medications or food should not be a choice anyone should have to make. Especially for seniors. In 2020 St. Vincent served 995,655 meals across Los Angeles making them the largest privately funded Meals on Wheels program addressing hunger.

St. Vincent’s mission for the last 35+ years has remained the same, to prepare and deliver nutritious meals to homebound seniors and other vulnerable residents across Los Angeles, regardless of age, illness, disability, race, religion, or ability to pay.”
